1 In late October we hit the road on a mission to sit in pools of warm water as we crossed the state of Nevada. The first set of photos was taken at a hot spring in central Nevada located on BLM land. We were pretty much alone there except for the packs of wild mules that would come down at night to drink out of the 130-degree spring water.

2   The next set of photos was taken in the town of Ely Nevada, on the east side of America's loneliest highway. It was nice to get out of the van for a bit and stretch the legs which came me a moment to snap these.

3   The next two shots were taken in Eureka and Pinoche Nevada. One thing you can't help but notice is how so many of the smaller towns across the state seem like they've been left behind whenever what industry was helping prop up the local economy went away. Puts a lot of things in context.

4  After being chased out of Great Basin State Park by an incoming blizzard (explains why there are no shots), we ended up stopping and staying at Cathedral Gorge. The pictures don't do it justice. Very beautiful and uncrowded. This whole trip the weather was on the cooler side, but I imagine this place in the summer is pretty unbearable.

5   Then we ended up staying in Vegas for a couple of days to catch up with some work and recharge. Otherwise, not a fan of the town.

6   A couple of shots from the road. The arrow sign was somewhere outside of Caliente. And the other shot was taken on our way out of Death Valley on 120 towards the 395.

7   Bishop, CA.

8   One of the best nights of the trip was in Benton, CA. We had our own campsite with its own hot spring. Nothing like sitting under a fishbowl of stars while sitting in 110-degree water. This shot also gives a small peek into our travel setup for the last 4 years, a Nissan NV200 van. It's been a real trooper so far. The other shot was taken from the hillside above the hot spring looking out. We'll definitely be going back.
